No Chivalry

No Chivalry

Oil on Canvas, 24" X 36"

Until 35 years ago, male jockeys dominated the landscape of Throughbred racing because female riders couldn't be licensed as jockeys. The only time of day they were allowed to be on the track was during morning workouts.

However, as the painting shows, these jockeys show no chivalry toward their female counterpart.

The artist has a lifelong love affair with horses. She trained and showed Arabian horses and then conditioned Throughbreds at ther farm near Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California.
